PT_Desde 2021 que as pedreiras no Codaçal, em Serro Ventoso, no concelho de Porto de Mós, ganharam uma nova vida. A razão são as criações artísticas promovidas pelo Stone Art, um festival artístico desenvolvido em contexto rural que utiliza a pedra como material principal na procura da integração de obras de arte pública com a natureza ao seu redor.

A Pedra é o que nos une neste projeto enquanto fator de atração artística, como tem sido em tantos outros momentos. A beleza estética, versatilidade, e propriedades físicas de durabilidade e resistência do calcário ornamental presente neste Parque Natural das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, são fatores de distinção que lhe tem conferido vários usos ao longo da história e um papel importante nas mais diferentes expressões artísticas, aplicada tanto em pequenos projetos de design e arte plástica, como em grandes obras de arquitetura, ou, como é o Stone Art, na arte mais urbana, adicionando um toque natural e sofisticado aos espaços ao ar livre.

No contexto do núcleo extrativo do Codaçal, o Stone Art assume uma importância especial, contribuindo para a valorização do património natural e a consciencialização sobre a importância da indústria extrativa presente e dos calcários ornamentais, cuja beleza é destacada em peças de arte únicas.

Projetos como o Stone Art honram a tradição e as técnicas de trabalhar a pedra, passadas de geração em geração, que refletem a identidade da região e a importância das rochas ornamentais na história e na vida local das comunidades.

Felicitamos, pois, os promotores e envolvidos nesta nova edição Stone Art, neste que é também um desafio que une instituições, exploradores, artistas e a comunidade local, provando que é perfeitamente possível conviver num território de Parque Natural e crescer em respeito entre a atividade económica, o ambiente e as populações locais.

ENG_Since 2021, the quarries in Codaçal, in Serro Ventoso, in the municipality of Porto de Mós, have gained a new life. The reason is the artistic creations promoted by Stone Art, an artistic festival developed in a rural context that uses stone as the main material in the search for the integration of works of public art with the surrounding nature.

The Stone is what unites us in this project as an artistic attraction factor, as it has been in so many other moments. The aesthetic beauty, versatility, and physical properties of durability and resistance of the ornamental limestone present in this Natural Park of Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, are distinguishing factors that have given it various uses throughout history and an important role in the most different artistic expressions , applied both in small design projects and plastic art, as well as in large works of architecture, or, as Stone Art is, in more urban art, adding a natural and sophisticated touch to outdoor spaces.

In the context of the extractive core of Codaçal, Stone Art assumes a special importance, contributing to the enhancement of the natural heritage and awareness of the importance of the extractive industry present and ornamental limestone, whose beauty is highlighted in unique pieces of art.

Projects such as Stone Art honor the tradition and techniques of working with stone, passed down from generation to generation, which reflect the region’s identity and the importance of ornamental stones in the history and local life of communities.

We therefore congratulate the promoters and those involved in this new Stone Art edition, in what is also a challenge that unites institutions, explorers, artists and the local community, proving that it is perfectly possible to live in a Natural Park territory and grow in respect between the activity economy, the environment and local people.
